I am a psychologist who specialises in the areas of chronic disease self management and healthy lifestyles. I am available to work on an individual basis with people with chronic or long term conditions who may require assistance and support in becoming more active in the management of their health. This may be support for the many physical, social or emotional issues to do with having a condition which limits their day to day life whether that be physical conditions such as obesity, heart conditions, arthritis, diabetes, asthma, chronic pain, or psychological conditions such as depression, stress or anxiety.

Many people with chronic conditions suffer from the common problems that need to be managed on a daily basis. These may include:

• Anxiety
• Pain
• Depression
• Fatigue
• Shortness of Breath
• Sleeping Disorders
• Emotional & Social Problems
• Physical Inactivity
• Inadequate Nutrition
• Addiction problems (Smoking, Alcohol etc)

Appointments will involve a self-management assessment that identifies areas where individuals may have the potential to improve their current self-management practice. In a supportive environment, problems will be identified, goals may be set and support will be given throughout behaviour change. Through ongoing support and healthy lifestyle advice I will work closely with individuals to give them the techniques to live well in the community with a chronic condition.

Seminars and workshops on the above issues are also run frequently throughout the metropolitan area. Health professional training is also available.
